The UXR goal was to make sure the already in development new 'free wall' version is going to be usable, and accessible and not damage already valued users' experiences.
The roadmap included the following tasks to be completed in 3 weeks
Miro board workshop planning
Research plan, assumption, and mitigating bias
Satisfaction survey
Testing sessions x20, 1-hour sessions with users from all over the globe
Analysis and work with the team on prototype iterations
Report and UR artifacts
Presentation and handover
Some of the key findings from this study included:
Users did not fully understand the paywall membership new area being added. It was recommended that F1 unlocked should consider adding an element or an option to understand that explains the motivation behind the free wall so that a user can rediscover their benefits and love for the sport.
Although there were no major issues with user comprehension and interaction, once they arrived at the benefits page, the research session indicated the page’s call to action may not be clear enough. Users initially less willing to sign up, became more inclined to do so after visiting the benefits page.
The study was more than just a usability test that investigated usability and accessibility issues, it uncovered perceptions, behaviours, community, awareness of F1 benefits, trust and credibility. This was a large and challenging task to complete in the instructed time, however, I made sure we got the best out of the sessions and the research stored well for the team to continue to work from.
The research goals, questions and UX guidelines were documented in a Miro board as the team used boards, which was an accessible easy way for them to digest all the planning.
Understand how participants perceive the content-free wall: Does the user understand the purpose of the free wall?
Understand other behavioural habits: Do they interact with other sports organisations and how is this experience?
F1 organisational perceptions, credibility and trust What are the user’s perceptions of F1 as an organisation? Does credibility, trust and positivity spring to mind when asked about F1?
To get them engaged with the prototype before asking any questions. How do they interact without any guidance?
