Maintaining a user-centric approach within companies entails cultivating a culture and adopting practices that place a high emphasis on the needs and experiences of users.

My methodology

Depending on the research goal and its lifecycle, the most fitting activity will be selected. I prefer conceptualising activities in a manner that aligns with the chosen research methodology. Are you inclined towards behavioural research, focusing on what users do, or perhaps you lean towards attitudinal research, where the emphasis is on listening to what users say?

Learn: This can include; field studies, user interviews, stakeholder interviews, customer support interactions, heuristic evaluations, and competitive analysis.

Activities therefore would include: expanding collaboration, talking to the experts, defining goals and motivations, understanding ethical guidelines, gathering data sources, and collecting UX metrics.

Examine: Design reviews, creating or reviewing persona profiles or JTBD, task analysis, information architecture, reviewing accessibility, prototype feedback and testing, and creating user stories.

Activities include: giving users control, understanding universal guidelines, checking for inconsistencies, mapping to future needs, making software updating effective, and building efficient ways to work with other teams.

Experiment: Qualitative user testing, focus groups, benchmark testing, a/b testing, accessibility evaluation, test instructions and help guides. Tracking bugs and fixes, including diverse users, making sure UX metrics and guidelines are being met.

Listen: Survey and analysis of large data, analytics review, search log analysis, feedback reviews, presentations and stakeholder feedback. listen to all feedback and build reports teams will use. Communicate and illustrate future purposes of a product or service.

“Charlotte worked as a user experience (UX) consultant on a project I ran at City, University of London. She advised on interview scripts, delivered user testing sessions and wrote a UX report regarding a web resource being developed for the university. Charlotte demonstrated conscientious and thoughtful contributions throughout and kept me well informed regarding the project's progress. Her qualitative interview skills are excellent and she contributed insightful and meaningful proposals and appraisal of the web resource being explored. Her work contributed greatly to the development of the project.”
